Product Description:

Hard Builder Gel Meets Magnetic Magic ✨

Ivy - Christmas green with a cat eye twist

This Christmas, we’re bringing you something truly special!

Introducing Cat Eye Hard Jam - an innovative hard builder gel that combines the strength and durability of a traditional hard gel with the mesmerising beauty of a cat-eye effect, all in one formula. We all know how busy and stressful the Christmas season can be for nail technicians. With cat-eye nails being one of the most popular nail trends, we wanted to create something that would make your life a little easier.

Why build the nail and then apply additional layers of cat-eye gel polish when you can do both at once?

Cat Eye Hard Jam allows you to create your nail structure and stunning magnetic effect in one application, saving valuable time during busy  period

What Makes Cat Eye Hard Jam Special?

  • 2-in-1 formula: Combines a hard builder gel and magnetic cat-eye effect in one product.
  • Time-saving application: Create your structure and cat-eye design without additional layers of cat-eye gel polish.
  • Thinner consistency: Unlike our traditional Hard Jams, Cat Eye Hard Jam has a thinner consistency, allowing magnetic particles to move freely and create beautiful, dimensional effects.
  • Hard gel strength: Provides the strength and durability you expect from a hard builder gel.
  • HEMA-free, Di-HEMA-free and TPO-free formulation.
  • Versatile application: Can be applied in one or two layers depending on your preferred working technique or in one thin layer over any other hard gel to create a subtle cat eye effect

Important Application Tips

Cat Eye Hard Jam has a thinner consistency than our traditional Hard Jams, so a little extra control during application is important.

1. Avoid applying too much product at once.
Due to its thinner consistency, applying an excessive amount may cause the gel to flood the cuticle area.

2. Prefer working in two layers? No problem!
If you find it easier to build your apex gradually, you can apply Cat Eye Hard Jam in two layers for better control.

3. Check for air bubbles before curing.
Before placing the nail into the lamp, check for any trapped air bubbles and gently pop them if necessary. Air bubbles can affect the finished appearance of the gel and interfere with the magnetic effect.

4. Create your magnetic magic
Use your preferred cat-eye magnet to manipulate the magnetic particles and create your desired effect before curing.

Cat Eye Hard Jam is a hard builder gel and is NOT soak-off. It must be removed by filing.

The idea behind Cat Eye Hard Jam was simple: to make our lives as nail technicians a little easier. Fewer application steps, beautiful results and more time saved during those busy Christmas period.

How To Use

1. Nail Preparation

Proper nail preparation is essential for achieving excellent adhesion and long-lasting results, particularly when working with HEMA-free products.

  • Gently push back the cuticles and prepare the nail area as usual.
  • Carefully etch the natural nail plate using a 180/240 grit file, ensuring all surface shine is removed without over-filing.
  • Pay particular attention to the cuticle area and sidewalls.
  • Thoroughly cleanse and dehydrate the nail plate using isopropyl alcohol or acetone.

Professional Tip: Take your time with nail preparation. A properly prepared nail plate is the foundation of excellent product retention.

2. Base Coat Application

Apply a thin, even layer of base coat using gentle rubbing motions, ensuring the entire natural nail plate is covered.

For best results, we recommend:

  • Nail Jam Thick Rubber Base – Our preferred choice when working with Cat Eye Hard Jam. Its flexible properties provide a supportive base underneath the hard builder gel.
  • Nail Jam HEMA-Free Rubber Base – An excellent alternative offering strong adhesion to the natural nail plate.

Curing Time:

  • LED lamp: 60 seconds
  • UV lamp: 120 seconds

For optimal results, we recommend using the Nail Jam Professional Cure Lamp.

3. Cat Eye Hard Jam Application

Cat Eye Hard Jam has a thinner consistency than our traditional Hard Jams, allowing the magnetic particles to move freely and create beautiful cat-eye effects.

Step 1 – Slip Layer

Apply a thin slip layer of Cat Eye Hard Jam over the cured base coat.

Do not cure.

Step 2 – Builder Layer

Immediately apply a bead of Cat Eye Hard Jam over the uncured slip layer.

Gently distribute the product across the nail, building the desired apex and structure.

Important: Avoid applying the builder layer too thick.

Although you need sufficient product to create a properly balanced apex and strong nail structure, we recommend working with a slightly thinner layer than you normally would with traditional hard gel.

Due to its thinner consistency, excessive product application may cause flooding around the cuticle area.

Step 3 – Perfect Your Apex

Once you are happy with the product placement, turn the client’s finger upside down for a few seconds.

Gravity will help the gel self-level and create a beautifully balanced apex.

Use a fine liner brush if necessary to perfect the product placement around the cuticle area and sidewalls.

Professional Tip: Work on one nail at a time for maximum control over the product and magnetic effect.

Step 4 – Create Your Cat Eye Effect

Once your structure and apex are complete, use your preferred cat-eye magnet to manipulate the magnetic particles.

Move the magnet around the nail to create your desired effect.

Important Tip – Check for Air Bubbles!

Before placing the nail into the lamp, carefully check for any trapped air bubbles.

If you notice any, gently pop them before curing.

Air bubbles can affect the final appearance of the gel and interfere with the magnetic effect.

Once you are happy with your structure and cat-eye design, flash-cure cure immediately.

You’ve created your nail structure and stunning magnetic effect in one application, without needing an additional layer of cat-eye gel polish.

Prefer working in two layers?

You can also build your structure gradually using two thinner layers if you find this technique easier to control. Cure each builder layer according to the recommended curing instructions.

4. Curing

Cat Eye Hard Jam must be cured using a compatible dual-wavelength lamp (365–405 nm).

Recommended Curing Times:

  • LED lamp: 99 seconds on low heat mode
  • UV lamp: 120 seconds

For optimal curing performance, we recommend the Nail Jam Professional Cure Lamp.

Please Note: Curing performance depends on lamp compatibility, light output, product thickness and correct hand positioning. An additional curing cycle cannot compensate for an incompatible lamp or excessive product thickness.

5. Finishing

Once fully cured:

  1. Remove the inhibition (sticky) layer using isopropyl alcohol.
  2. If necessary, gently refine the nail structure with a file.
  3. Lightly buff the surface to create a smooth, even finish.
  4. Remove any dust and thoroughly cleanse the nail.
  5. Apply your preferred Nail Jam top coat and cure according to its instructions.

Your beautiful Cat Eye Hard Jam nails are complete! ✨
